Artificial Intelligence
The term Artificial Intelligence has now taken on many faces and has become a buzzword whose meaning is not entirely clear.
It is therefore important to properly define the term Artificial Intelligence in order to place other concepts related to it in the correct context. The concept of Intelligence is already difficult to define, let alone an artificial variant of it. It is therefore quite special that Artificial Intelligence is now regarded as a General Purpase Technology (GPT). A GPT is able to influence the entire economy. Examples of earlier GPTs are the steam engine, electricity and the internet. The expectations of Artificial Intelligence are therefore sky-high.
Within Zuiver ICT we use the following definition of Artificial Intelligence:
The ability of a system to correctly interpret external data, learn from this data, and use these lessons to accomplish specific goals and tasks through flexible customization.
Artificial Intelligence, according to Mr. Kai-Fu Lee, who described the developments around Artificial Intelligence in the world in his book "AI Superpowers", is coming towards us in a few big waves. In order these are:
- Internet AI
- Business AI
- Perceptive AI
- Autonomous AI
(AI stands for: Artificial Inteligence)
Zuiver ICT is all about applying Artificial Intelligence operationally by making the concept concrete. We make the term Artificial Intelligence concrete by developing practically applicable and robust Intelligent Algorithms and embedding them in the business processes. These then perform their specific function in the background (more explanation about Intelligent Algorithm).
Since Zuiver ICT develops Intelligent Algorithms for the Operational Organization, we participate in the Business AI wave. Zuiver ICT focuses primarily on Intelligent Algorithms that must be trained to perform a task. We do not shy away from algorithms that are not trained, but can add a lot of value to a process and are also developed by Zuiver ICT. We simply call this script.
From the definition, we consider an Intelligent Algorithm to be an expression of Artificial Intelligence. Intelligent Algorithms can be set up on the basis of various techniques and methodologies. When it comes to Intelligent Algorithms that are set up by training them, we speak of Machine Learning. Machine Learning is therefore part of Artificial Intelligence.
